McCrea, Maxwell, and Baker have commented upon the absence of any residue registers in our machine. It must be pointed out that the system under discussion was developed in 1974 to provide "test-bed" facilities for further experimental work. In fact, we have since applied residue retention techniques to the system to obtain greater precision. However, it is timely for McCrea et al. to draw attention to their more recently published work.
