Abstract :
Mobile IPv6 is a prominent protocol used for handover processes of mobile networks. Variance like Fast MIPv6, Hierarchical MIPv6, Proxy MIPv6 and Fast Improved MIPv6 are also used alternately for handover. Applications like continuous video and other multimedia streaming faces discontinuity during handover due to the large signaling delay, higher handover latency and lack of proper buffering mechanism. Dynamic threshold buffer management at Access Routers improves the queuing latency and controls out of order packet sequence at playout buffer for continuous packet flow without video freeze. By adopting dynamic threshold buffer management, the proposed method reduces the signaling cost as well as handover latency up to the tolerable limits to provide continuous data flow under variable mobility conditions.
