Abstract
This paper reports design of a tri-band microstrip patch antenna for wireless applications. The proposed patch dimension is 37.02*27.26 mm and it utilizes microstrip feed. The tri-band resonance is obtained using proper loading of patch antenna by microstrip slots and shorting the patch to the ground by a quarter wave line. The impedance bandwidth of the designed antenna is 15 MHz for 1.8 GHz GSM, 23 MHz for 2.4 GHz WiFi IEEE 802.11 standard, and 108 MHz for 3.53 GHz WiMAX IEEE 802.16. The simulation and measured results match well and thereby validates the proposed design technique.
