Abstract :
Inductance type displacement transducer is generally of two types LVDT type and simple self inductance type. Both these types may suffer from various defects such as non-linear operation near the end and shortening of linear range etc. In the present paper a modified differential inductance type linear displacement transducer has been developed. In this technique, the defects of the other inductive displacement transducers have been eliminated. The theory of operation of the proposed transducer has been described. The developed transducer has been functionally tested and experimental results are reported in the paper. A very good linear characteristic of the transducer with good repeatability has been observed.
