Abstract :
A method for chip waveform design that minimises the tracking jitter in code division multiple access (CDMA) synchronisation is presented. The method is based on the use of prolate spheroidal wave functions. Examples of optimised waveforms are given and their performance compared to other conventional pulse shapes in terms of timing error variance and bandwidth occupancy.
