Abstract :
The functional zones of a power system (generation, transmission and distribution) can be divided into three hierarchical levels. The first level relates to generation facilities which are considered in this article. The authors discuss generation capacity requirements, probabilistic criteria and indices, and reliability evaluation. The modelling approach, peak load effect and generation expansion planning are also discussed
