Abstract :
Video-on-demand (VoD) service on the Internet has been surprisingly popular during these years. And it is being greatly enhanced by the emergence and maturation of both the peer-to-peer (P2P) schema and network coding (NC) technology. P2P-based solution can make VoD systems obtain high scalability. The introduction of network coding improves the content distributing efficiency of the system. Meanwhile, digital video cassette recording (VCR) functionality provides users more freedom to choose playback mode while viewing video-clips. Designed a video segmentation-aided VCR support for P2P VoD system without network coding; and in ,we designed a P2P VoD system with scene-segmentation and network coding, which is called SonicVoD. In this paper, we will place our detailed design for SonicVoD and introduce some extensions for it.
