Abstract :
Mathematical modelling in engineering has become more important in the optimisation of both new and existing processes and prototypes. Mathematical modelling tools allow us to create virtual prototypes that reveal the innermost details of a process. A new generation software tools for personal computers enables engineers to model equipment and processes and display the results in graphical, and even animated, format. To show how this is done, we take step-by-step through the modelling of a chemical reactor.
