  • Abstract
In this paper, two kinds of surge voltages generated in a capacitor bank composed of paralleled modules are presented and analyzed. The countermeasures for suppression of surge voltage are also studied. The high surge voltages can cause the malfunction of the capacitor bank and destroy the expensive components, such as the crowbar diode and switch. The causes and characteristics of the surge voltages are analyzed and the countermeasures for suppression are presented. The results are presented by experiment and simulation.
