Abstract :
The design and applications of closed-transition switching to improve performance in transferring all types of essential loads is presented. Application factors are discussed such as load characteristics, the need for periodic testing, anticipation of power failures, desired reliability, and required approvals. Transfer switch design as it applies to both the transfer switch itself and to the associated controls is discussed
