Abstract :
The induced-phase modulation in a gas-filled hollow-core waveguide is modeled as a possible method for pulse compression in the UV using grating pair. The method has been applied to a number of excimer lasers and Raman-shifted wavelengths, predicting compression coefficients from 15 to 700. The limitations posed by system parameters, absorption, waveguide losses, and breakdown are discussed
