Abstract :
This paper reviews the evolution of data-acquisition systems and the use of triggering to capture power-quality events. Triggers characterize the events and provide unique methods of data sorting. They make capturing data easier. They make sorting data easier. They make analysis easier and faster. The drawback is that they may lead to fast/false (oversimplified) conclusions. There is also the danger that, if setup incorrectly, the event may be missed.
