Abstract :
The reproduce performance of a narrow-track (2 micron) dual magnetoresistive (DMR) reproduce head is theoretically analyzed using three-dimensional micromagnetic modelling. Down-track and cross-track response, side-reading, and nonlinear effects are considered. The DMR bias state with antiparallel components of bias magnetization is shown to maximize performance. Single-domain stabilization of the antiparallel DMR, comparison to the shielded-MR, and the shielded-DMR are discussed
