  • Abstract
The manifestation of inhomogeneities in the mean magnetic moment per iron atom μFe and Curie temperature Tc of Fe-B glassy alloys is shown experimentally and explained on the basis of the simultaneous existence of compound-like associations and iron clusters. Experimental data show anomalous concentration dependence μ Fe and Tc in the low boron concentration range (c B<20 at%): Tc increases sad μFe shows a flat maxmin instead of monotonic decrease with increasing boron content. Cooling rate and melt overheat influence not only the Tc -which is known to be structure dependent-but the magnetization as well. The sensitivity to structural changes of these two parameters can be interpreted by the exceptional behaviour of iron
