Foreword to the Special Section on the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on Precision Clock Synchronization for Measurement, Control, and Communication

Precision clock synchronization has emerged as an important technology for networked and distributed systems. The instrumentation test and measurement community has played a very significant role in these efforts, which is reflected by the fact that the development of the IEEE 1588 Standard was sponsored by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
