Abstract :
The interesting photo-induced magnetic effect that the permeability changes back and forth between two states corresponding to the on and off of the irradiation with white light on Co-doped yttrium neodymium iron garnet single crystal films at 77 K was newly found. The phenomenon is studied as a function of wavelength in the range of 400 to 1400 nm. As a result two states corresponding to the on and off of the irradiations can be explained by the existence of Fe2+ and Co 2+ ions which contribute to the strong magnetic anisotropy of the garnet structure
