Abstract :
10.7 Gbit/s transmission at low optical signal-to-noise ratio is reported through >200 km of standard singlemode fibre without dispersion compensation. Using forward error correction and duobinary signalling, the dispersion penalty is under 1 dB after 200 km with only 20 dB received OSNR.
