Abstract :
A 64-channel 50 GHz-spaced arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multi/demultiplexer module with ultra-low crosstalk based on a cascade connection technique has been developed. By integrating AWG bandpass filters densely on a chip and attaching the chip directly to a conventional AWG, not only was a very low crosstalk of -82 dB obtained but also a low insertion loss of 3.3 dB and a compact module size.
