Abstract :
Using directly modulated lasers (DMLs), avalanche photodiode (APD) receivers, and all-Raman amplification, error-free repeaterless WDM transmission of eight C-band channels at 2.5 Gbit/s over 300 km of standard singlemode fibre (SSMF) span (63.5 dB span loss) is reported. Uncorrected BERs better 10-10 were achieved for all eight channels with power penalty ∼5.5 dB for the worst channel.
