Abstract :
A method of counting and identifying MPEG frames in an IP packet stream for embodiment in an SNMP counter has been developed. This new SNMP counter allows for distributed monitoring of the quality of streaming video. The SNMP counter is evaluated using software emulation and it is shown that user perceivable video anomalies can be measured.
