Abstract
The history of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is incomplete without the story of the G-21 hardware design that played an important role in establishing its Computer Science Department. The G-21 served as the one computer facility on campus for system programming, faculty research, and student course work during the six-year period in which the department was born. It also played another important role in attracting the capital necessary to help the department flourish. This report focuses on G-21´s hardware design
