Abstract :
The time-stepping finite element method of analysis of motor drive transients is presented. A system composed of an electrical machine, semiconductor inverter and control equipment is considered. The proposed mathematical model includes: the FE equations of the electromagnetic field; the equations which define the connections of windings and inverter elements; the motion equation; and the relations which describe the control system. The approach is based on the simultaneous solution of these equations. Special attention is paid to the movement simulation in the FE method. Transients in the drive with permanent magnet synchronous motor and voltage inverter are analyzed
