Abstract :
The design and preliminary tests of a VME multiprocessor system for the JT-60 Upgrade plasma control are reported. The design of the system, which utilizes three MC88100-based reduced-instruction-set computers (RISCs) and VME buses, was stimulated by requirements for faster and more accurate computation for the plasma position and shape control. The present control system and its modification and characteristics are described, and the configuration of the VME multiprocessor system is examined. The results of a test of the capability of the VME system to transfer data through the CAMAC system are reported
