Abstract :
Manufacturers and users of transformers are nowadays capitalising the core losses while considering the costings. Therefore a software package which enables an engineer to predict within a short period the approximate core loss in a transformer of any rating and geometry will be very useful. This paper describes how such a 2-D package has been developed using the finite element method to compute flux density and hence loss distribution in transformer cores made of anisotropic material
