Abstract
Coal-fired generating stations will constitute an increasing portion of the electric power generation for the United States in the years ahead. Many of the new units will be rated in the 500 to 600 MW range and will incorporate complex pollution control equipment. The pollution control equipment represents a significant increase in station load requiring a larger auxiliary power system. This paper describes suitable design methods and results of a reliable and economical auxiliary power system design suitable for a typical single-unit generating station.
