Abstract :
Though transmission line towers employing the inverted delta configuration are not yet in commercial operation, they hold great promise for the near future, especially at EHV and UHV levels. The paper gives the normalized graphs needed to calculate the maximum ground gradient for practical inverted delta configurations. The study shows that the geometrical parameters of the inverted delta configuration can be optimized to reduce the maximum ground gradient. The study also shows that lowering the centre phase to convert a flat configuration to an optimum inverted delta configuration would not increase the maximum ground gradient.
