Abstract
The analysis and synthesis of arbitrarily terminated, lossless, nonuniform transmission lines is approached via a Volterra integral equation formulation which is easily programmed on a digital computer. The theory of the first approximation is worked out completely while the second approximation for transducer power gain is derived for a line "matched" at both the front and back ends. It is shown that the first approximation leads to a synthesis formula for the taper in terms of the input reflection coefficient which is essentially equivalent to an expression obtained originally by Orlov [9] and further refined by Sharpe [10].
