Abstract :
The application of gapless zinc oxide arresters represents a significant development in surge protection. The purpose of this paper is to examine the application of gapless surge arresters to underground distribution feeders, and compare the protection of these arresters to conventional gapped arresters. This comparison should introdwxe the reader to the performance that can be expected from this new arrester technology as applied to underground distribution systems.
