Abstract :
XTACIR--Extra-Heat-Resistant Aluminum Alloy Conductor Invar Reinforced--has just been developed. XTACIR can carry twice the current capacity as traditional ACSR under the same sag conditions without rebuilding or increasing the height of steel towers. It was necessary to develop two new materials: extra-heat-resistant aluminum alloy and high-strength Invar alloy. XTACIR has extremely low sag properties, which coincided with the designed properties. This means that double the current capacity can be obtained by restringing XTACIR on existing steel towers and that extra-heat-resistant aluminum alloy can make it possible to replace bundled conductors with a single conductor.
