Abstract
Cognitive Radio (CR) is a modern technology to combat the scarcity of wireless spectrum. Two main segments of CR technology are spectrum sensing and spectrum management. Sensing is related to monitoring the Licensed Users while spectrum management is related to allocating the unused licensed spectrum to Unlicensed Users effectively, without interfering with the operation of Licensed Users. In this paper we are trying to solve the spectrum management problem with the help of real time Auto Route Selection method. The real life auto route selection resembles the spectrum management issues in CR. We propose a new model for effective management of the spectrum and sharing them among the unlicensed users without any conflict with primary user. The model is utilizing the traffic pattern of PUs. The central controller combines the traffic weights with the local decisions observed through radiometer and finally decides the spectrum availability.
