Abstract :
Conjugated polymers possess the electrical and optical properties traditionally associated with metals and semiconductors, yet retain the mechanical properties and processibility of plastics. This combination of electrical and mechanical properties is attracting a good deal of fundamental scientific interest. From the practical standpoint, these materials also hold great promise for a wide range of applications in electrostatic dissipation, electromagnetic shielding, batteries, electrochromic windows, electronic devices (diodes, FETs, etc.), light emitting diodes, lasers, and solar cells.<>
