Abstract :
This paper deals with simulation methods for obtaining the maximum value of switching overvoltage and investigations on a mechanism of fault to ground which may occur when a capacitive current is interrupted by a disconnecting switch for gas insulated switchgear, and factors affecting its dielectric strength to ground as well. Also the paper discusses remedies for improving the dielectric strength at capacitive current interruption and proposes the Simulation Arc Test Method.
