Abstract :
A program to identify the root causes of observed failures in power plant components is described. A study of generic failures is applied to boilers, pulverizers, pumps, bearings, fans, turbine-Generators and other significant contributors to plant outages. A plant-specific program is described which formalizes an approach to be used by an individual utility.
