Abstract :
A standard is required to formalize methodologies for generation unit performance data collection procedures. This paper develops a continually updated status reporting data collection system whereby the state of the unit is constantly monitored. Statistical analysis of unit performance and component performance is provided by computer program procedures separated from the data collection process. A state code system and a component orientated cause code system identify separately the unit state and cause of the state. Definitions provided in IEEE Std. 762-1980 are used. Basic data provided can be edited thoroughly by computer programs and these editing procedures, particularly for the consecutive events, enhance data credibility over outage reporting systems. This simple approach creates a verified data file of unit and component history in chronological order, available by random access to secure ad hoc management and technical reports. From this file., translator programs may create input reports to interface with NERC and EPRI data collection and analysis efforts.
