Abstract
It was shown by C.M. Newman and G.A. Baker (1991) that the critical distortion d c of the Ising model on z k is related to the radius of convergence R of the classical Mayer series by d c=R /(1+R ). An approach from statistical mechanics to estimate R as well as d c by using the matrix representation of Mayer series is found
