Abstract :
Motor problems usually cause a crisis, and are quite annoying, especially if the problem could have been prevented. The keys to successful motor operation include; a quality motor; understanding of the application; choice of the proper type of motor for the application; proper installation-mounting, coupling, surroundings-for the motor; and proper maintenance of the motor. Many problems could be avoided if the application and environment were understood, while others may be caused by a changing environment in which the motor operates, and, of course, some are due to the motor itself. This paper examines common motor problems and their preventative action
