For the mechanical turbogenerator shaft material response, the damping of the torsional oscillations once the electrical disturbance is eliminated is fundamental e.g. for the subsequent shaft material fatigue and life expenditure. Rodenhuize full scale test curves illustrate the dominant role of the electromagnetic damping.
