  • Abstract
Renewal arrival processes are shown to be equivalent to a special class of general modulated deterministic process. This equivalence allows a direct comparison of cell loss probability results obtained from renewal theory and from burst-level simulation. A case study is presented which shows excellent agreement between the two approaches, confirming the accuracy of the burst level method for ATM simulation studies.
