Abstract :
The paper describes the necessity to add several items on the existing standard dielectric withstand test for high voltage circuit breakers. These are supplementary chopped wave tests to check performance of ceramic grading capacitors, power frequency test to check the breakers´ dielectric withstand capability with existance of metallic particles, and capacitor current switching tests after multiple interruptions of full short circuit current.
