Abstract :
In this letter, we joined the multilevel coding (MLC) and bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) together by using Gray mapping, which is called semi-BICM. To perform well at signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) close to the capacity of the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, regular low density parity check (LDPC) codes are discussed with parallel independent decoding (PID). The numerical results show that the proposed structure could achieve both power and bandwidth efficiency.
