Abstract :
The development is described of a range of compact terminations for self-contained oil and gas filled cables for applications at 132 kV, 275 kV and 400 kV to meet the rapidly expanding usage of SF6 insulated busbars. In addition to the industry tests for cables, special proving tests were conducted on the components and terminations to simulate the busbar enronmental conditions. These were satisfactorily completed and demonstrated an ample design margin. Further developments to the present and future voltage range are mentioned.
