Abstract :
In the GIS, the high closed loop current is required to be interrupted by a disconnecting switch. The longer arcing time during an interruption will produce greater amount of decomposite products, and thus will deteriorate an insulating performance. Test was carried out using various kinds of electrode structures with a view to reducing the arcing time. A magnetic driving type or puffer type electrode structure was found to be effective for reducing the arcing time.
