Abstract
A linearizing pulsewidth modulator (LPWM) is presented that linearizes the control-to-output characteristic of three-phase inverters employing single-pole/multiple-throw switches. The paper shows how such an LPWM can be realized using integrators with hold and reset, which are familiar building blocks in mixed-signal integrated circuits. The theory is verified by experimental data obtained from a 1 kW three-phase boost inverter switched at 24 kHz. The line voltage regulation of the prototype is better than 93%.
