Abstract
The first bulb-type hydroelectric project in the USA has been completed on the Columbia River near Wenatchee, Washington. This paper discusses the initial start-up, testing and performance of the bulb-type units. Also discussed are operation of the hydraulically operated draft tube gates and their role in the unique sluicing operation.
