Abstract :
The power industry is in a state of flux, with a variety of new technologies vieing for integration into systems of increasing complexity which are struggling with unprecedented constraints and difficulties. A comprehensive, methodical procedure is described for evaluating a new technology on its own merits, relative to the needs and constraints of the power system, and forestalling difficulties. Emphasis is placed on role definition, deductive, physically- based, modeling, and simulations. A brief example is appended.
