Abstract
This paper proposes a smartphone-based driver assistance system which uses front and rear camera image recognition to help maintain the safety of the driver. This system uses a front camera image to detect the drowsiness of the driver, and a rear camera image to detect the vehicle in front. This means the system is able to calculate the distance between the front vehicle and the driver, so it can warn if the front vehicle gets too close. This system also uses sound recognition in the vehicle engine check-up and command input, so the driver can switch between the front and rear cameras using only his or her voice.
