Abstract :
Equivalent circuits of three-phase synchronous and induction machines are derived by using a simplified magnetic field analysis approach. This approach clearly establishes the connection between magnetic field analysis and circuit analysis of the machines at an introductory level. Hence, the approach is valuable for teaching these concepts in introductory level electro-mechanical energy conversion courses
