Abstract :
The Bath County Pumped Storage Project is scheduled for full commercial operation on the VEPCO system in October, 1986. This paper describes the significant features of the major electrical equipment. Particular emphasis is placed on the considerations which led to the selection of static, variable-frequency starting of the units as pumps and to the use of a gas-insulated (GIS) 500-kV switchyard.
