Abstract :
This paper deals with a procedure of solution to the optimal economical operation of an integrated power system containing the energy storage units with system transmission losses included. Dynamic programing concept is used for solving this problem defined as a multistage decision process with complex restrictions. An iterative method of solution based on the application of the relaxation method is developed to generate the optimal solution´to the system operations. Two examples illustrate the method. An electrical generating system of one storage unit and one supplementary thermal plant and an electrical generating system with two energy storage units and one supplementary thermal plant.
