Abstract
A programmable controller has been developed specifically for use in power stations. Replacing conventional electromechanical relays for process and electrical logic control, the controller was designed to meet a number of requirements not available with commercial programmable controllers, including detection and location of field wiring ground faults, 2500 volt transient immunity, suitably compact packaging and factory assembled field cabling. Design details of these and other features are presented, along with an outline of tests that have been carried out on four production units.
